It seems Charlie Bird single-handedly confused many after he publicly dated his now partner for so long and was still being asked to speak at Stake conferences and publicly supported by many hi vis leaders in the church to include current church Young Women’s President. I never heard of any consequence, and his book was being highly advertised by Deseret Book through it all and they published his op Ed’s on lgbtq issues.

I believe this is true. I am seeing this issues grow exponentially within the Church, and the confusion between what the official doctrine is, what the official verbal commentary from the Brethren has been, what it is today, and what many of our members like Charlie Bird on one side and Emily Belle Freeman on the other side, and everyone in between is saying on repeat ad nauseam, it makes it nearly impossible for anyone who is not *already* FIRMLY anchored in Christ and His doctrine, unshakeable in that faith/testimony and who has a deep deep knowledge of honest LDS history (not the revised stuff that is making the rounds today, what is full of twists and turns so as to make it more a philosophy of men), then that person will almost certainly fall away. The Lord stated the sifting of the wheat and tares will begin in His own house - HE was NOT Kidding! And i don't think anyone really understood/understands how very difficult it is/is going to be as we move into the future. The very elect will be deceived if they are not super firmly anchored to Him and know extremely well how to discern when the adversary is whispering to them vs when the Spirit is whispering to them. That is the key to all of it - to know how the Spirit whispers to each of us.
